On Netflix streaming right now is Milius, a documentary about the director John Milius. Writer of Apocalypse Now, Dirty Harry, Jeremiah Johnson and Conan the Barbarian. If you are a filmmaker or have an interest in film, the film industry or are a fan of documentary films I highly recommend it.
John started his career along with Martin Scorsese, Francis Coppola, George Lucas, and Steven Spielberg. He was considered one of the best writers in Hollywood, creating some of the most memorable pieces of dialog in cinema history.
His career and life have taken him on a different path than the contemporaries of his time leaving him as the lone wolf of Hollywood.
My interest in this documentary was in my fascination with Conan the Barbarian since I was a child, but as I watched the documentary I realized that he has had a greater impact on me than I realized. He is one of my favorite directors and writers and I consider his films to be the definition of what is best in the art of cinema.
